Devils’ Paradiso - First Edition

Devils' Paradiso is a strategy-driven tabletop role-playing game designed for a Game Master, known as The Greater Will (GW), and at least one other player, set in a modern, low fantasy setting where players navigate a campaign riddled with supernatural antics. 

In the Devils' Paradiso, the bizarre writhes behind the veil of the mundane. As one of the unfortunate few, toil through a world of supernatural chicanery or risk being consumed by it.

Three core design philosophies went into the creation of Devils' Paradiso: 

The Devils' Paradiso magic system grants players a rigid and robust framework to handcraft one-of a-kind powers called Incantations with the Incantation's abilities designed to meld with a character's narrative and reflect various aspects of themselves. Narratively momentous events in a character's backstory, known as Catalysts, define a character's Incantation, making it a natural extension of who they are.  

The combat in Devils' Paradiso is high-stakes and tactical, pushing players to contemplate every action play-by-play as the health system centers around the damage a character can endure and inflict. There are two types of damage: Wounds and Scars. Wounds induce short-term debuffs to the character that can escalate to gruesome long-term Scars, leaving lasting effects that can hinder the character. Combat is more than just a momentary skirmish but a meaningful encounter with dire consequences that drastically affect a character.

The narrative shapes every aspect of progression. Players become stronger through items and apparel, refining their usage of Incantations and other narrative milestones. This approach prioritizes immersion, allowing characters to evolve as they expand their influence and leave their mark on the game world. Strength becomes a reflection of their journey, relationships, and decisions, ensuring that every step forward feels deeply personal and impactful.
